AO2009

Hi all,

Time to talk tennis wahahaha
I actually had a huge rant detailing the itinerary of the day. But it wasn't sound writing, so I've scrapped it.

So the day started at 1pm at melbourne park. We saw the last 15minutes of safin's match, where he won soundly in straight sets. And moved off to hisense arena where the main chunk of action occured.

Started off with the last hour of Jankovic vs Flipkens... bit boring :/
But there were these belgian supporters with bodypaint and very creative cheering, so that spiced it up.

What followed was a grim 4-hour 5 setter between Nalbandian and a random taiwanese guy (Lu). Nalbandian lost in the end, which was very disappointing. And an even bigger slap in the face for the poor guy when Lu got knocked out easily in the next round 3 sets 6-3, 6-2, 6-2 or something. :(
But during this match, the belgians were reapplying their bodypaint which was great fun to watch. I think they actually brought an entire tin of paint to do it with. Oh, good on them for being considerate fans too, they left the backs clean so they wouldnt get any on the seats when they sat down. (Y)

Nalbandian feeling a little good about himself...

And Lu serving his ass off.

And then we saw Roddick and his trademark serve taking on Xavier Malisse, the belgian guy the supporters were waiting for.
Up...

and down...

Realising it was already 9pm, we headed out of there after 8 hours of lovely tennis :)

And so ends my *very* brief synopsis and photo dump of day 3 in the aus open in hisense arena.

That is all! Who wants to come next year? :O
