Among friends

At this very moment, I am sipping a smirnoff ice double black. Whatever that is. And boy does the 7% of alcohol really burn down your throat. x]

I am now the owner of two beautiful mice. Before I get into detail of them, I have to say that my Dad does not like mice. Also, he's overseas. I'm trying to work something out at the moment, which hopefully will let me keep them. Because, I get attached to things very easily, and am already loving my two new pets. I've named the white one Jess and the black one Pol, and they're very scared of me. They hid in their pipes, but they're very cute. XD *edit, jess likes to eat alot and run on the wheel, but is more shy. Pol seems a bit more active and likes to run around, rather than constantly hiding from me like Jess >.>

The best thing about my birthday? I invited 18 of my closest friends, and all of them came. That's what really made it special ^^ Thank you all for such a great day((s) for some) and all those wonderful presents.

Vista is a piece of shit

hear hear!

ok no, seriously, one problem leads to another
and perhaps it's hp's fault, but my laptop is going nowhere

Vista is a piece of shit:

buy laptop in hk,
install vista,
during installation, vista does not create a user properly, and we are unable to log in;
take it back to the store,
they reinstall vista and it's all good again.

back to aus,
install/setup wireless router,
attempt to get laptop connected wirelessly to the internet but alas,
net works fine for a few hours,
before modem fails.

after a 2 week net-less intermission,
new modem and the internet is back up and running again,
router is working fine with the new modem from bigpond,
second attempt at a wireless internet connection:
unsuccessful.

idea:
plug it directly into the router first,
then find solutions on the net,
i discover appropriate drivers required on hp website.
download download.

idea x2:
install msn while im waiting,
while installing msn, the installation determines that vista is not authentic,
and DISABLES FULL USAGE OF THE COMPUTER,
demands are set for verification of a product key.

promptly find the product key on the bottom of the laptop,
enter it in,
invalid,
double-check it and enter it again:
INVALID, MY ASS, VISTA!!! >:(

-end-

impromptu poetry of epic proportions, inspired by windows vista, written by jason.

I guess I'll be on the phone with HP tomorrow (and the day after and the day after..) for a couple of hours, disciphering the outsourced technical support.

Gates of Horn

It's been a long time since I've done a proper post. This has been contributed through work, going out, laziness and lastly a computer time cut down placed down by my parents. But don't worry, I'm still alive!

I'm working four days a week now, and it's really getting to me. There's only so many customers you can serve, before you the little voice in your head starts whispering: "Pane di casa? You want one? I'll THROW IT AT YOU! (and kill you cause it's really dense.)". I'm kinda getting tired of serving, especially serving annoying customers, and lately I've been volunteering to do all the cleaning work, just to get away from it. I know most jobs out there consist of people interaction, but I think I just need a environment change. I'll cross my fingers for a job at my brother's technical call center in a couple of weeks.

I've been reading lately, since I'm off the computer, and I've had a sudden interest in history. A lot of authors like to base their stories of real history, and then add a little bit of fantasy kinda stuff. I've read a different version of Troy, and started one about Genghis Khan, the Mongolian who united all the tribes. Today after work, I went to library to borrow a historical fact book about Troy, to learn about it from a factual point of view. I'm anticipating it highly.

Now, onto movies. I've seen I Am Legend and Golden Compass recently. I am Legend was pretty good, the thrills were pretty good for me anyway. Some of the scenes were made quite well and developed quite abit of tension and suspense. The cinema crowd we (David Ng, Janice, Dave's Sis and Cousin) watched it with were really into it as well. Everyone started whispering fearfully as Wil Smith struggled away from a trap, with demons coming after him...it was good. But overall, I thought the storyline was pretty basic and the ending was pretty..meh.
Golden Compass was just a flop. With creation from a book in mind, it seemed like the movie was just pulling scenes from the story, just to see if it looked pretty on the big screen. The acting, in my opinion, was bad. The way the story developed, was bad. And WTF AT THE POLAR BEAR'S JAW. A little kid left the cinemas before me, saying "So much for PG13" LOL.

Oh yeah, Happy New Year everyone. I can hardly believe that we're in the new year now. 2008 looks to be an interesting year. My only resolve for this year, is to keep friendships strong with my old friends, even as we all make new ones at university. It'll be hard, but I aim to keep some of my closest ones in good contact.

Speaking of which, my birthday is coming up. Horrah. I'm not that excited, and I'm not expecting much. The main thought about my birthday is that I can use it as an excuse to have friends together. I don't want any presents this year again, but I'm not sure where to have my 'party'. I was thinking a restaurant at Knox, and then maybe walk back to my house with those who want to stay over.

Anyhow, that's it from me. Hope everyone's holidays are going well. Year 12 begins soon for some of my friends =] fun fun.

Tim's Rant 01 - first impressions

Okay so i've decided to update and yeh i'm going to do a rant and it's going to be random and full of lots of sarcastic stuff and lots of typos and lots of .... yeh just don't take any of this seriously.

first impressions -
Okay so im going to rant about first impression, which is also kinda linked with building new friendships. i mean okay, now that highschool is over and uni is about to begin do u ever worry that you won't beable to make any new friends? or u won't beable to make enough friends and your going to feel like a social loser? Anyways this is where first impressions count a lot. how many times have u met someone and either go
'hey this guy seems cool' or 'wow this girls special'
or.......
'oh man.... this blows..... he/she is just too plain boring'
well for people who pick the first option good for u! and for people who pick the second option well i got news for U! U know u shouldn't judge a book by it's cover and yeahh people are kinda like books u know, if u meet a 'boring' person don't just brush them aside, keep reading them a little and then u might find something interesting.
However...... don't u think sometimes the cover is more interesting then the content.... for example, how many people have read the book... no wait, watched the movie 'eragon' .... OH my goodness that was the worst movie i have ever seen, i was sooooo anoyed i actually spent money to see such a rubbish packed film, but oH man how good was the trailer and the movie poster!! ... see this is what i mean with people, and these people must be avoided at all cost!! i know this seems drastic and harsh but let me explain.
reasoning: these people bring u down, they screw up ur personality bad!! they also make u a worst person. they make u try to act in a different way just to suit them not u. if u meet someone who doesn't communicate back to you, doesn't show any effort to talk to you, or to 'try' to befriend u, then you are wasteing good time... and energy and effort, and as u know time is money, so really u are wasteing ur money on this person, it's not worth it! Also why would u compromise urself??? never try to be someone that u are not, at the expense of your own indiviuality because then u will be fake and fake is no good.. tim no like fake, and not many people i know like fake too!
Anyways... im going all over the place i can't write down what exactly im going to say so lets continue this random rant on first impressions. i think they are really really no REALLY important, they print a really strong memory into ones head and it usually sticks with them. I mean... would it kill you if u gave a smile to someone when u first meet them??? and maybe u know put on some charm - sincere charm though.

"Hi i'm _______, nice to meet u! wow u have pretty hair"
"awww why thankyou, i love ur shirt, where did u get it from? oh i'm _______ by the way"

no i didn't think so, i mean come on isn't that far more better then something like

"Hey can i borrow ur rubber?"
"ok"

Oh my gosh a name would be good yehh?? do u really want to be known as the rubber guy or girl?? but my goodness whats the worst is when you go out in a group of friends and then there is this new person there and like there is no introduction at all... and then u spend half the outting just glancing at the new guy/girl.. rofl it's quite ammusing but soo not cool right! and then only like in the last hour u actually exchange words.. oh boy.. thats soo stuffed up. Ohhh and the 'i'm shy don't look at me' excuse is soo pathetic! i'm soo sick and tired of that, if someone has the courage to actually introduce themselves to you, the lease u could do is not act shy, because acting shy gives the impression of cold... cold is no good, cold gives the impression of a snob... sorry it's true, regardless if u are a snob or not a snob, so for goodness sakes you were given a chance to defend yourself and show ur true personality and awesome person u are, except u chose not to so what were u really expecting? the other guy/or girl to research ur past and then come to some kind of objective judgement that you really are an awesome person??? fat chance.

Okay look, i know i can be a bit weird meeting new people and i probably give out really weird impressions and stuff that don't really reflect the kind of person i am. i mean just recently this new guy i met asked my friend 'oh is tim gay?' and then she told me.

what the?! ?!!! ?! !? !!?!?! ?!?!?!?!

okay, look, how the hell did he jump to that conclusion i have no idea, but obviously it must of been something i was doing or acting or whatever, from me.. he got the impression that i was gay. Im using this example to further strenghen my point that u need to have a good first impression, because i must admit i wasn't talking to this person much and then i decided to try talking to this person and then somehow it rubbed off wrongly, maybe because it was really random and he could of been thinking 'oh why now start talking to me?' sooo maybe i have no idea... so maybe if i was just friendly from the beginning he would of though 'ohh hey tims cool' insted of wondeing if 'tims gay'
anyways don't let this happen to u, i encourage u all that the next new person u meet, stay calm, be friendly, give a good impression and enjoy the start of an awesome friendship that will last forever. U don't want to be known as 'the gay guy' or something, hahah so yeh! peace out, i'm done ranting today,

timmy.
