I'm pretty sure we're all busy studying or just enjoying the little time we do have to relax to blog. For me, I've been going to TSFX lectures in the city practically all week, except for Thursday. Which I had maths tuition on that day. Been either studying a little in between or just sleeping. It's pretty tiring going back and forth into the city everyday. Still it's not too bad. At least I get to go with a group of friends, and we have fun.
We usually just go the city via train, in different groups back and forth as some of us did extra lectures that were before/after different ones. On Monday, we came back late and took David Ng to dinner, as it was his birthday! So Happy Birthday for Monday Dave! Yesterday, me Grace and Janice went to the costume shop opposite Knox city. Grace found this really cute outfit, which I won't spoil here X] and janice found a pretty one too! Can't wait for muck up day. On a side note, the lady there is really unhelpful and mean. I hate people like that. And I use the word Hate with purpose. She was totally rude and made the experience unpleasant. I'm glad I've canceled my costume there, cause I hate that place.
||.eDit: thanks marco =]
Just something that happened today. Physics group, consisting of me, David Ng, Ann, Chewy, Kelvin L, Andrew G, Grace, Tiffany (Chewy's friend) and Christine, were standing outside of a Coles shop in the city. I don't know what I was doing, but I was enthusiastically making gestures with whatever I was talking about. And I came to this bit where I swung my right arm, from left to right, quick fast and hard. Next thing I know,
Bang. "OUCH!"
I hit this lady around mid-20's walking past right in the arm. Like practically fully punching her. I was like OMG SORRY SO SORRY! Then I tried to hide myself and felt like walking in front of a tram. Hahaha, so stupid and everyone was laughing at me. The next following few minutes involved reenactments of my actions and reactions. /endshame.
Anyhow, that's all from me. Now I'm going back to studying XD Hope the rest of you are enjoying your holidays,
Hahahah guys i'm still sooo dead from the party and soo sleepy and lack of sleep means can't study... lOL! ahahaa jkjk nah nah. I'll post like a longer one later but for now heres something shiwen did and aww i thought that was cool! here it is!
these people are the bestest friends in the whole world!!
p.s. david, jason if u want to edit this post with ur own stories feel free. lol. *cough cough* 2 hours of singstar.. lol.
EDIT(#林):
I haven't got much to add really. David and I got there at 4pm to help setup and stuff, but all we ended up doing was write the names on the cups, and then we played singstar (and a tiny bit of RE4) until people arrived.
Anyway, the curry laksa was niice. :) But all the guys got kicked outside to eat on the ping-pong table in the cold... except Tim! big surprise LOL
mmmm.. I'm pretty sick of hearing avril lavigne and I was late to church today cause I slept in a bit too late. That sums most of it up!
Happy 18th, Tim :)
._Edit* teohsulfate
You both beat me to it.
I'm so sick of Singstar music. The two hours that me and ling came early was okay. After 5th hour of it, I fell asleep on the piano =] Memorable moment: Selecting "Let Me Entertain You" for Kelvin. Stands up and goes gangster "HEY! I'M ESL MAN!" Hahahaha, me and danny cracked up so bad.
Umm, what haven't they mentioned..oh, the cake. Cake was nice. Nice big cheesecake with jam and strawberries on top. Yeah, everyone liked it (that I talked to anyway), though I didn't get enough jam =[
Ling's diagram sums up the whole party pretty well. I kept giving the wrong bread out to people at work today, cause I was tired. But it was all good. Nice break before kicking into the studying 'holidays'.
EDIT:// - tim
Okok heres another edit haha and yeh as ling mentioned, David and Jason did come early and stuff and pretty much did nothing LOL, played singstar. ohhhh boy singstar was like on the whole night seriously hahaha but nah it's pretty fun to play with friends hahaha. I've got another idea that I cooked up while lying in the bed trying to get to sleep, again.
Recall what you have learned in specialists maths/physics:
Friction (I didn't like wiki's def, so I'm gonna give it a shot):
Friction is usually a force that's exerted, when something is being pulled or dragged on a 'rough' surface, that is applied in the opposing direction. And importantly, the force only reacts with just enough to keep the object in place to a point where it is no longer strong enough to hold it in place. (otherwise you'd see rough surfaces pushing boxes and whatever all over the place..) Mr Marshall compared Friction with his specialist maths class, as he 'joked' that we only did just enough when we had to when "forces" were exerted on us. He got a good laugh out of us nerds.
Anyway, how is this relevant to my idea?
Mmm, how do I start... Well making up a name for it, let's call it: Mental Friction.
Whenever we receive an idea or a thought, it becomes a 'force' that is exerted on our minds, a challenge to our mentality and lifestyle, although most of the time it will be trivial. Like seeing the color of a pen, or a car with a rego "ASS 101", we have a choice whether to accept it or not. It is then that our knowledge and beliefs act as friction for this idea or thought that will either prevent or allow it to fall into our mentalities, like a single piece of a jigsaw. Similar to actual Friction, there will be a point of limiting equilibrium which if passed will allow it to descend/ascend down/up the ' rough slope' and into our mentality, depending on the diagram you choose to imagine. (I prefer the latter if you can imagine those right-angled triangular slopes with the two weights suspended over the vertex and you put your reasoning into the weight that hangs vertically) I really wish I could be bothered to draw a diagram and scan it in atm.
Aaaaanyway, a couple of examples.
e.g. 1: Taking the pen example, when you see a red pen, you can easily accept it is a red pen, and chances are that you're gonna break the equilibrium, slide one way or another off the slope (depending on the imagery) and accept that the pen is red.
However, if you add a complication to the example... You see the red pen being written with by somebody during an English SAC, mental friction will either hold the thought in place to rot for eternity if you can never accept whether it was or wasn't a red pen, or you can reject the belief with logic that no dumbass would use a red pen to write with in an English SAC (unless of course they are underlining something in the topic, or planning, and... omg you're static!)
e.g. 2: Creation. Well, this is pretty straightforward to explain, as it's already been discussed by you guys. You can see all the point of views and ultimately, the mystery that surrounds the theory. How your mental friction treats this issue depends on your reasoning that you use, which was already filtered through by your mental friction in the first place that allowed you to accept it as: acceptable for reasoning.
Now, this wasn't really a theory or anything, but more of an explanation of the mechanics of our minds. Universe 0.000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000 00000000000000000000000000000000000000000000007% unlocked.
If it was a revelation for any of you: well done.
A Shameless plug:
The band is HUSKING BEE, dissolved in 2005 (I think), and started in 1994 (I think). I really love the last minute of this song, when the lead hits those notes and they reverberate, and I love the instrumentals of it overall. The guys look so down-to-earth too, it's great. Listening to music in a language that I don't understand puts me in a very creative mood cause what they're saying could be anything, and hence, potentially infinitely inspiring. So the other day, I just sat there doodling at my desk when I was originally planning to study methods.
Alpha and Omega? Pft, D.T delta and theta! J/k (btw I know tau is the T greek letter, but theta sounds way cooler) Once again, this is in reply to Dimsim's post, who was nice enough to reply to my post below =] Thanks for everyone's opinions as well, and were nice enough not to flame me.
A line of one of Dimsim's paragraphs caught my eye; "...our minds are limited, we cannot imagine that the universe goes for eternity and that we live for eternity." Now, Ling had a post about imagination awhile back (it's the chinese titled one), so that leads me to kinda disagree. I think our minds are unlimited in what we can imagine or think about. I mean, thinking beyond is what leads scientist around to exploring new things, imagining beyond things that we thought not possible. I'm betting there's lots of theories about things existing beyond the big bang. I remember there was one how the universe keeps re-starting over again after eons or something rather.
Anyhow, I realised that lots of these things are rather pointless to debate about anyway. Matt is right about religion is a faith, which is all about belief in that faith. Of course people who do not believe in that faith will have something to say about it, and will always have a counter-point. Because their lack of belief simply does not give them the perspective to understand that faith and what it means. Hence I believe that you cannot be convinced, or weigh the evidence, to believe into a faith, only choose what feels right.
For the record, I am not Christian. In fact, I do not strictly follow any chosen religion. I have experienced quite a few religions around different people and find the journey to finding a faith quite interesting. I do believe there is something out there, bigger than life. While I can accept the big bang theory, I believe there was something else that begun the universe. I agree with Kayfour's comment of science and faith side-by-side. Science has it's places in our world, but faith is beyond our world.
Btw, I think the issues of dinosaurs can be safely explained sufficiently enough for either science or religion. Thanks guys :D (it was so David's reasoning that won me over)
I was just reading through all the blogs in our links, and I came across Dimsim's (aka Rachel). Go read it for the whole thing, but basically it was about a guy called Mark and a talk about "Quest for God". It was about the usual proving God exists vs science. And it just sorta started my mind ticking about two of the points.
First of all, if God made the beginning as oppose to the big bang, I want to ask him about dinosaurs =] But seriously, does Christianity ever talk about the ancient years with dinosaurs? Is it even included in their timeline? Cause the first story is Adam and Eve isn't it? And I don't think there were dinosaurs were in there...AND DON'T TELL ME THEY DIDN'T EXIST. Dinosaur bones, ftw. Anyway.
The second point was about the world has beauty, design and harmony. Now, I'm not quite sure what the second bit is about and I don't think dimsim wrote the full thing out so no blame to her. However, I think the gist of it is that look at the all awesome things in the world, like our human bodies. How complex they are and amazing their functions. And all of this relates to God's own beauty etc? I think there are things that can reflect beauty and harmony as a result of human creation. If an artist paints something, does it have to be because God guided him to paint it? Or can't it just be inspiration of God, or just something normal.
And then there was a sense of right and wrong. One could argue that a sense of right and wrong is not from God. As a child, you have no sense of right or wrong. That's why the my mum had a thing called the cane when I was small. So it is your parents who teach you what is right or wrong mostly. Of course, as you grow up, your independence will force you to make those kind of decisions yourself and rethink the ones you already learned, but they will be based on what you experience and learned from the past. But then I guess you could argue that those independent decisions are guided by God, thus gone around the circle again. Not too sure about that one.
As for the miracles, I reckon that's ambiguous. But I guess if you're Christian, you must believe in miracles, for the Christ had an ankh and rose from the death.
Nah, I'm not. But since you mentioned it, let's "talk about our feeelings"... ["uh... LOOK! There's some ninjas stealing that old man's diamonds! (in the distance) gimme back my diamonds..." kudos if you get the reference.]
An emotion is defined by what we 'feel', right? So logically it should work the other way around, where anything we feel is an emotion. And, furthermore, an emotion does not necessarily have to be restricted to one word that defines a state of being, like: joy, sadness, love, loathing, ecstacy etc. I wonder: what's the strongest emotion? [click for context]
EMOTIONS (that are hence forth, politically correct):
Let down Like me after mid-years, if I was a lightbulb, A+s were icecream cones, and eating=earning.
Sorry Future me: when I write and publish horrible memoirs.
Okay, so it's about time for everyone to start thinking about muck up day..October 23rd or something like that anyway. I've decided for awhile now, that I will come as a Jedi. Now, a Jedi costume, you would imagine, would be fairly easy to find right? Well Melbourne doesn't exactly have a costume shop around every corner. I think we're going to look at one in Q first week of holidays.
HOWEVER.
Marco found his Sasori costume off eBay, for a good price (visit his blog for more details). So I thought I'd hunt around for a nice one. Being eBay noob, I didn't really see one nice for awhile. All kid stuff and crap. Then I found this one.
Oooh yeah, that is definitely my dream costume. It can't get better than that, except a lightsaber to go with it, which I HAVE to buy, regardless of what jedi costume I get. The hitch, you would realise, is that it's 100 US. 52 US shipping. Coming to a whopping 152US, which converts to $180AUS. ONE. EIGHT. O..MG.
I can afford. I could probably con ask my siblings to help pay for it even. But I dunno if it's worth it. 130AUS I could've lived with, but the shipping fee absolutely killed it. But I can't find any other decent ones. Just the cloak is 50, and they don't look that great. And I wouldn't know what to wear beneath it.
Okay this was a while ago, it was Like last saturday hehe. And yeh it was good!! well not really i only made the Semifinals but yehhhh it was good. BUT first i have a vid of my second serve which i will want to talk about for you for just a bit.
Hmmmm Yehh well it was taken a while ago, not club champs and yeh it wasn't my best serve and yehh... a actualy think it's quite poor... lOL but nonetheless let me talk about this. Well firstly... it's okay but not good enough for this level, it landed quite short the ball.. i mean it dropped in the centre of box and it sat up nicely for him to smack back soo yeh not good at all. I sliced this serve so as u notice u can see it spin in the air but obviously i didn't put enough spin on it, i was aiming for sidespin but i think i caught the ball a little off centre of my racquets sweetspot but managed to control and whip it into the box still .. Yehh also i could have.. well i hve goo extention on the ball and decent knee bend except that could of been bette and also moving into the court after woud of helped way more.
Yeh anwayss moving on. The day was awesome, it was soo sunny and warm and bright and an awesome day for tennis. I breezed through my rounds and yeh only got tricky around QF area but i won 6-3. Yehh it was like tricky but i'm glad i could win. then at SF's i had to play stephen and yeh... i lost that 6-2 but it was much harder then the score line. All the games went to deuces and they were really long and yehhh my backhand went a bit off and yeh. But i was happy with the day.
Anyways continue this later my keyboard is really weird, acting funny, it won't type well... haahhahahhah
I just felt like god is really speaking to me in a lot of ways and one thing that came to me was something from The New Testament, Corinthians 13: 2.
If i have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if i have a faith that can move mountians, but have not love, i am nothing.
And i was like i'm not even sure why i found this really touching or like anything but i just thought wow... i mean, love is just soo powerful and i feel like we need to build on our relationships with our friends and family and like... well at youth we started talking about relationships and i think this is kinda flowing from that.. but yeh just needed to share this. Love is so great, love is so powerful and i think that it's easy to forget how important it is, espcially in life.
Year 12 is endding and school is starting to get really busy and stressful i'm just praying that we don't forget to love each other unconditionally and support each other throughout this time, and that no matter what i know God has great things planned for us and that he has everything in control and we just got to believe and have faith in him and just be dependant on him forever and ever and with god with us we can overcome anything as he is an awesome god and mighty to save!
timmy.
"King of majesty, I have one desire. Just to be with u my lord"
The ability to imagine is something that we all *coughCHRISTOPHERcough* have. And it's a beautiful thing: ah, to be able to travel space with no realistic application of physics considered, and to bulldoze planets in an oversized deathstar while piloting the thing with a fennel and chuckling quietly to yourself...
...But do you exercise this ability often enough?
When last rained, did you consider how far that droplet of water had vertically travelled, so that it so-happened to land swiftly in the neck of your shirt and proceed give you the shivers?
The samples at baker's delight are free of charge, and so is your imagination, so why don't you use it more?
I can't help but do a lot of meaningless daydreaming before I fall asleep each night. (Is it called daydreaming when you are wide-awake, and dreaming only when you are asleep? Feels more politically correct...) There is one recurring sequence where I am in a hospital, and have awaken from a coma of 15 years or after suffering amnesia causing me to lose 15 years of memory, 15 years in the future.
If this does happen one day, it will definitely be very surreal...
Anyway, at the foot of and along the sides of the bed, there will be a bunch of friends that I recognise, and some that I have forgotten (but obviously know, as they are prompt enough to be at my "awakening") and of course, my family is there.
And recently, a different version of this cropped up, where I imagined that Mr. Nguyen walks in the door (lol), and it turns out that he resigned his job at gwsc as a physics teacher, and pursued a medical career, and now he's Dr. Nguyen. Not surprisingly, the scene ends there.
Aside from this, I also find myself engaging in a lot of imaginary conversations with people I know. Not sure if this has caused me to slip up in real life, but if it has: now you know.
Furthermore, while I'm studying something really boring (hellooo methods and accounting) with the music on, I end up just lying on my bed not particularly trying to take a nap, but just procrastinating.
Just this weekend, I 'cbb methods', and fell back on the bed, and this song crops up:
Nah, it's not a christian song, but its strings and vocals sound quite traditionally 'churchey', the rest.. is not. Anyway, it triggered another recurring dream.
I'm standing at the feet of God, cause he's massive and all I can see is the bottom of his white cloak/robe/whatever and his feet in his sandals (it's a pretty cliche image of God, I know, but it's awesome), and we're standing on clouds or something.. something heavenly. To my left (His right :p), there's a lever next to God, and I place my troubles, personified through a box, in front of the lever. And poof! at 0:44 in the song, He pulls the lever, and my troubles sink through the cloud and go flying down through the blue blue sky. And for the next 3 minutes, I'm just lying there imagining the descent with no actual landing or destination at all.
And this continues for about 30 minutes with other songs and imaginary scenarios till I feel too guilty to procrastinate any longer.
Well, that's my two 'sense'... hahahaha (doesn't make any sense at all)
Imagine and everything may not be possible, but it's fun anyway.
*sorry, gotta register to download.
another dose of youtube, it's a chinese music vid this time:
Hahaha, random pokemon font thing there. Anyway, I've begun taking photos at school for memory sake. I've realised for awhile that I have no photos printed out for hard-copy, i.e they're all on the computer/photobucket/myfriendskeepthemforme. So I've decided I'm going to make an album of just the main things that I want to remember about school. Though I don't have photos spanning very long ago, the last two years are two of the best I've had at school. So they will include:
Formals/Debutantes (both 06, 07) Bridge Day Maths Tuition Classes: Methods, Literature, Accounting, Physics and Chemistry Band And friends, where I shall just fill it up with photos of friends And grad and muck up day, when they happen.
I'm planning to just write a few words about each one, just to remind myself of the good times. Hopefully, if I can, I will bring it to school on the last two weeks and see if people will write in it, but I don't want to bother people that much.
Today I took my camera and took photos for methods and bridge day. Methods was good, I realised how much I fun I have with my method buddies. Bridge was okay, though I was trying not to lose at the same time, so my camera ended up in the hands of TIM, who took random shots of people I don't even know! But ah well haha.
Here are some photos that were taken.
Bridge Group: Tim, Me, David N, Ling Maths Tuition: Michelle B, Henry C, Me, Mrs.Lim Maths Methods Class: Jing-a-ling, Vincent (Kaito), Lester, Mae Ying =] and Gitty.
I've got about 20 photos for each group, and will choose the most memorable ones to print. Note, I know these aren't the best photos ever taken, (just in case Matt comes along and decides to comment) but I'm a camera noob and so are people using the camera for me =] As long as I can make out the SMIRK THAT APPARENTLY I ALWAYS DO. >=D *smirk.
Well its approaching the end of life at gwsc and the commemoratory events are well underway.
Just last week I put a double-sided entry into Elisa's memory book, it was pretty fun just rambling and doing what I pleased with a blank slate (save the lines and the winnie the pooh in the corner).
I drew a flower growing out of Pooh's ear; I got a good laugh out of it. :3 And other random squiggles. wahahaha... ask elisa if you wanna read my entry :) I don't mind.
And this Monday, Matt brought in the camera and we took a snapshot of the: chinese class, crossword crew. (Alliteration is fun times for everyone involved.)
Matt, Me, Sidney, Joon, Dom (what's with the hand-glasses, dom! :3)
During chinese class, we pretty much have nothing to do except self-study chinese. Now we can practice our oral exam general conversation/detailed study with mr. yang and the student teacher, but only since about last week...
Anyway, Mr. Yang is the one that organises the paper for the school, and so he lets his class grab a copy of the age from the lib every class, and we ended up doing the mindgames page each class.
The quick, cryptic, sudoku, target, underage, and superquiz.
The quick was the centre of our attention most of the time, while we typically filled out the 9-letter, underage, sudoku and the superquiz when there was nothing else to do. Once in a while we would get a few cryptic clues though, and when we had done everything else (except the cryptic) we'd continue(from the 9letter)/start the target.
Typically sidney and I were guaranteed participants for most of the lesson, while: Elisa wrote her 9467th essay, or studied some other subject; Matt studied chem/spec/physics/whatever or did the mindgames with us; Dom was chatting/giving massages, lol and Aaron would come in from french next door every tuesday inbetween the double; Joon would be participating most of the time, but he does some chinese sometimes, too :) ; and well i guess that's it for the immediate surroundings of the mindgames page. Oh, Tess and Misha sit in the row in front of us, and sometimes Tess throws in an odd answer now and then.
If I were to personally order us in crossword-prowess:
1. Joon, for his extreme and random vocab and correct answers for words he doesnt even know or isn't sure of knowing. 2. Matt, for his impeccable spelling/pronounciation and also wide vocab 3. Sidney, for his equally wide vocab, but sometimes incorrect spelling and pronounciation, e.g. Colonel is said: kernel, sidney!!!, and when matt heard him say coll-o-noll, he chuckled and said "oh, sidney..." with a smile :p but seriously, sidney is a great guy :) 4. Me, cause I can do the underage, but often stumble with vocab like fawning and recently, "hie"? never heard of it! :S Also, I make up imaginary words for the target: what a pro 5. Dom, cause theres been more than one occassion when he got a couple really good/crucial words. 6. Elisa, for getting perhaps only one clue all year (that i recall): Bowl (5) -> Basin. Go Elisa!!! Winner! :D
And, well, yeah, that's chinese 3&4 for you.
Good Times!
But seriously, I'll miss yr12, and yr11.. and 10, 9, 8, 7, gwsc... Boy nostalgia just slapped me in the face and left me senseless for a moment.
...and geez, I really need...:
a profile pic
photoshop skills to edit that into a posting-banner
new shoes and some collarless t-shirts, but thats not really relevant...
And so we move into a new month! Only 24 more school days left T_T how emotional...
Anyway, it's going to be busy this month. Yup yup. SAC every week, if not more than one. Exam preparations beginning, tuitions in the holiday...Tim and David's birthday! PARTAY!
Won't post much today. I think I post most of the time, compared to the other two. I'll just leave it with this:
Haha silly Matthew..saluting the camera man, which I think was Dan's Dad. But all the other ones other people had their eyes closed so bad luck Matt =P The rest of the photos can be found here: Courtesy of Kelvin Liu.

I'm glad I've canceled my costume there, cause I hate that place.
||.eDit: thanks marco =]
Hmmm yeh and then aroudn 7 friends started comming and yeh it was a pretty nice party, i mean yeh i thought it was okay and all worked out well and yeh lots of people and everyone looked happy and stuff and ahah i'm sorry if anyone was bored =/ i hope not lol.
