Bah! Humbug!

Atlas Shrugged has been added to the list of novels I don't quite finish cause of whatever reason. This time, I blame it on being sick and hence not willing to tolerate a coughing fit every 3 lines. :)

What else is on the list?
/The third instalment of The Lord of the Rings, Return of the King. I was about three quarters through if I remember correctly. And it was, of course, directly in succession of reading Fellowship of the Ring and Two Towers over the course of several weeks perhaps a couple months, so it was a bit of a waste of an investment in time. (But I've seen the movies anyway, so that's okay! Got the plot, to some extent.)

/Great Expectations by Dickens. Got through about four fifths of it (so I was pretty close) and it was approaching crunch time for the vce so I put it down, and haven't picked it up again since. I know Marco finished this one. His comments when I said I found it boring and couldn't finish it were, "I found it quite exciting!" (Marco Kwok, 2007, October possibly September, around 2pm in the back foyer of the sci-tech center if I remember correctly)

/Homer's Odyssey. It is quite action-packed, but [sorry,] I am just not used to reading ancient greek plays, not since Women of Troy have I gotten that drowsy reading seemingly endless discourse between a bunch of Greeks. I was about halfway through. I *am* about halfway through. It is still on my bed, so I may pick it up for a peruse again soon.

/And now: Atlas Shrugged by Ayn Rand. MAN, that book is long. Please try reading it though, don't let my lack of commitment deter you from one of contemporary literature's great works, or so I've heard. I was one TWENTY-TH through that gargantuan! Oh, man. Embarassing effort by the noob. Maybe one tenth to save face. Possibly. Or one fifteenth..

So what now?

I will probably finish A Christmas Carol by Dickens. And then I will fail ABYSMALLY (I think I have spelled that *in*correctly) in attempting to read Ulysses by James Joyce! Or perhaps Dubliners, because I already have a copy of that and won't need to fork out $20 for Ulysses just yet. Or maybe I will buy it just because I have a $5 coupon already.

ARGH! That reminds me. I have something to get off of my chest, it's nothing big but hear me out.
I bought A Christmas Carol from Angus&Robertson with the intention of using the $5 coupon I earned with my A&R card, but it was not in stock, so I had to order it. When I picked it up, I paid for the book and was on my way.
So, not only did I forget to use the coupon, but I forgot to scan the card. So I am effectively down 30 points I would have earned, paid $5 more than I needed to, AND if I want to use the coupon before it expires, I have to buy ANOTHER book before mid-Feb. MAN! What a noob.
