:<

I'm supposed to be studying, but I was procrastinating and saw this comment on youtube about a music video, and felt like saying something about it.

Congratulations if you've already figured out the word I'm about to attack.

It's 'unique'. A word that is used so often and so inappropriately that it is an example of many words today that have become a cliche. It is no longer only phrases that are deserving of being cliches, but individual words are apparently eligible for this demotion, too!

I've observed that unique is simply used to communicate that something is good, similar to the its hollow cousin: 'special'. It doesn't mean one-of-a-kind any longer, unfortunately.
As can be observed in this comment, which utilises a thorough paradox: 'i love bands like this' + 'they are unique'! Nice one, noaplus4u! No A+ for your English though, I'm afraid.
